Materia Prima places players in a medieval world where mysticism and science are inseparable in alchemy. In search of the philosopher's stone, recipes must be researched and resources mined.
Materia Prima is a competitive sandbox game with an unique mix of several influences and styles. It combines various mechanics, such as dice rolling while fighting, deck building while recipe exploration, grid movement on a modular game board, pick up and delivery while resource mining, resource management while crafting items and area control by creating little helpers, the Homunculi.

This has been an exciting year behind us. Despite all the limitations, I look back fondly on 2020 as the year I was able to deliver my first game to you and over 1000 people around the world were able to play Materia Prima.
I planned a lot for 2021 and I hope that I can count on your support again. Currently, I am working diligently on the expansion for Materia Prima. The Kickstarter preview page is already up:

hinter uns liegt ein aufregendes Jahr. Trotz der ganzen Einschränkungen blicke ich gerne auf 2020 zurück, da ich in diesem Jahr mein erstes Spiel an euch ausliefern konnte und über 1000 Menschen auf der ganzen Welt Materia Prima spielen konnten.
Für das Jahr 2021 habe ich viel geplant und ich hoffe, dass ich wieder auf eure Unterstützung bauen kann. Aktuell arbeite ich eifrig an der Erweiterung für Materia Prima. Die Kickstarter-Vorschauseite gibt es schon:

Rulebook 2.0
The revised rulebook is almost finished and the new classic game mode has also been well received by the many playtesters. You can download the final version in print quality as a PDF file from 22.10.2020 on at my SPIEL digital booth. The rulebook will initially be available in English and German. Further language versions are planned. In addition, a printed version of the revised rulebook will be included in the 2021 Inquisition expansion of Materia Prima.
Print and Play Character
I would also like to give you a little present. Also at my SPIEL digital booth there will be a print and play character for Materia Prima for download. The PDF contains a brand new alchemist character sheet and an alchemist figure. Download, print, cut and play. Here is a little foretaste of what you can expect.

At SPIEL digital you will not only find PDFs, but also have the opportunity to chat and play with me. I still have a daily live panel where I create artwork in front of the camera for the upcoming Inquisition expansion for Materia Prima. Regelbuche 2.0
Das überarbeitete Regelwerk ist so gut wie fertig und auch der neue klassische Spielmodus hat bei den vielen Playtestern großen anklang gefunden. Die finale Version in Druckqualität könnt ihr euch ab dem 22.10.2020 auf meinem SPIEL digital Messestand als PDF-Datei herunter laden. Das Regelbuch wird zunächst in den Sprachen Englisch und Deutsch verfügbar sein. Weitere Sprachvarianten sind aber in Planung. Außerdem wird eine gedruckte Variante des überarbeiteten Regelbuches der 2021 kommenden Inquisition-Erweiterung von Materia Prima beiliegen.
Print and Play Charakter
Außerdem möchte ich euch ein kleines Geschenk machen. Ebenfalls auf meinem SPIEL digital Messestand wird es einen Print and Play Charakter für Materia Prima zum Download geben. In der PDF enthalten sind ein brandneuer Alchemisten-Charakterbogen, sowie eine Alchemisten-Spielfigur. Downloaden, ausdrucken, ausschneiden und losspielen. Hier ist schon mal ein kleiner Vorgeschmack, was euch erwartet.

Auf der SPIEL digital findet ihr nicht nur PDFs, sondern habt auch die Gelegenheit mit mir zu quatschen und zu spielen. Ich habe weiterhin täglich ein Live-Panel, in dem ich vor der Kamera Artwork für die kommende Inquisition Erweiterung für Materia Prima gestalte. Und weil ich es gerade eben erwähnt habe, ich hab natürlich auch ein paar erste Einblicke in die Erweiterung und erkläre euch, was euch da so alles erwartet. Ich kann es auf jeden Fall kaum erwarten, euch auf meinem Peacock Tabletops Messestand zu sehen.

it has been a long time since you' ve heard from me. I hope you are all healthy and have spent a lot of time with our favorite hobby. I've been very fierce during the last weeks and I've designed a new game variant of Materia Prima for you, while at the same time I've restructured the rules and removed some ambiguities. The reason for this revision were many helpful suggestions and the constructive criticism I received from you. I am still convinced that you deserve the best Materia Prima I can offer you. For this reason, I have also created the new CLASSIC GAME MODE, which is strongly based on the victory conditions of classic Eurogames. Here are some changes listed:
+ the game ends when the first player reaches 25 victory points
+ the length of the playing time is drastically reduced
+ you have more freedom to design the game individually
+ the game becomes clearly accessible for newcomers
But don't worry, nothing has changed in the old game mode. It is now simply called EPIC GAME MODE. You now have more ways to enjoy Materia Prima.

I have marked all changes in red in the text, so you can find your way around faster. I would be very happy about your feedback on the revised rules. I will offer the finished version of the rules for free download on my SPIEL digital exhibition website. I will provide you with a link to it later. Have fun playing

nun habe ich mich schon einige Wochen nicht mehr bei euch gemeldet. Ich hoffe, ihr seid alle gesund und habt viel Zeit mit unserem Lieblingshobby verbringen können. Ich war in den letzten Wochen sehr feißig und habe für euch eine neue Spielvariante von Materia Prima entworfen und dabei gleichzeitig das Regelwerk neu strukturiert und einige Regelunklarheiten beseitigt. Der Grund für diese Überarbeitung waren viele Anregungen und die konstruktive Kritik die ich von euch erhalten habe. Ich bin immer noch davon überzeugt, dass ihr das beste Materia Prima verdient, das ich euch bieten kann. Aus diesem Grund habe ich auch den neuen KLASSISCHEN SPIELMODUS kreiert, der sich stark an den Siegbedingungen von klassischen Eurogames orientiert. Hier sind einige Änderungen aufgelistet:
+ das Spiel endet sobald der erste Spieler 25 Siegpunkte erreicht
+ die Länge der Spielzeit wird drastisch reduziert
+ man hat mehr Freiheiten das Spiel individuell zu gestalten
+ das Spiel wird deutlich zugänglich für Neueinsteiger
Aber keine Sorge, an dem alten Spielmodus hat sich nichts geändert. Der heißt jetzt einfach EPISCHER SPIELMODUS. Ihr habt jetzt einfach mehr Möglichkeiten Materia Prima zu genießen.

Sämtliche Änderungen habe ich im Text noch rot markiert, damit ihr euch schneller zurecht finden könnt. Ich würde mich sehr über euer Feedback zu dem überarbeiteten Regelwerk freuen. I hope you had some time to play Materia Prima and more importantly, that you had fun. Today I have some new information about the upcoming Inquisition expansion. I would also like to invite you to visit my booth at the SPIEL digital.
GAME digital
SPIEL digital will take place from October 22nd to 25th and I will be present with a booth and an extensive program. Live games, live artwork, Q&A, lotteries and much more. I would be very happy if you come by online and join me in the livestream.
Inquisition
I have taken some time over the last few weeks to work intensively on the Inquisition extension. Especially with the double layerd board I made good progress. The single board parts of the base game can be inserted into the new board. At the port cities you can do fast journeys and research the new action cards and in the mountain temple you can do rituals, but more about this when the opportunity arises. Here you can see the current design.

If you have any wishes or suggestions for the expansion, I would love to hear them. I would also like to ask you again to rate Materia Prima on BoardgameGeeg. That would help me and the game to generate more attention.

Vom 22. bis 25. Oktober findet dir SPIEL digital statt und ich werde mit einem Messestand und einem umfangreichen Programm vertreten sein. Live spiele, live Artwork gestalten, Q&A, Gewinnspiele und vieles mehr. Es würde mich sehr freuen, wenn ihr online vorbeischaut und mit im Livestream besucht.
Inquisition
Ich habe wir in den letzten Wochen ein bisschen Zeit genommen und intensiv an der Inquisition Erweiterung gearbeitet. Vor allem mit dem double layerd board bin ich gut voran gekommen. Die einzelnen Spielbrettteile des Base Games können in das neue Board eingelegt werden. An den Hafenstädten könnt ihr schnellreisen durchführen und die neuen Aktionskarten erforschen und in dem Felsentempel könnt ihr Rituale durchführen, doch dazu bei Gelegenheit mehr. Hier sehr ihr schon mal den aktuellen Entwurf.
Falls Ihr noch Wünsche und Anregungen für die Erweiterung habt, würde ich sie gerne hören. Außerdem möchte ich euch nochmal bitten, Materia Prima auf BoardgameGeeg zu bewerten. Das würde mir und dem Spiel sehr helfen, mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu generieren.

now that almost all copies of Materia Prima have been shipped, I hope that you have found some time and muse to play your first games of Materia Prima. But more importantly, I hope you had fun doing so. I have already received some feedback from some of you. This is very important for me because I definitely want to continue working on the game. That's why suggestions for improvement are very welcome. Based on your feedback, I have already made a few small changes in the rulebook. However, these are not changes to the game, but only clarifications of ambiguous text passages. Please do not misunderstand, I'm not changing the gameplay, but only the accessibility of the rules. In the next few weeks I will update the rulebook on BGG, Kickstarter and my website.
If you have any suggestions and ideas for the gameplay, I'd be very interested in it, because I'm currently working very hard on the expansion "The Inquisition". The expansion should not only fit seamlessly into the basic game, but in the best case make the gaming experience even richer and more elegant. Currently I am designing the artwork for the game board extension . Here are a few impressions.

nachdem nun fast alle Kopien von Materia Prima ausgeliefert worden sind, hoffe ich, dass ihr ein bisschen Zeit und Muse gefunden habt, euere ersten Partien Materia Prima zu spielen. Aber viel wichtiger ist noch, dass ihr dabei Spaß hattet. Von ein paar von euch habe ich schon etwas Feedback bekommen. Das ist ganz besonders wichtig für mich, da ich definitiv an dem Spiel weiter arbeiten möchte. Deshalb sind auch Verbesserungsvorschläge sehr willkommen. Ein paar kleiner Veränderungen habe ich auf der Basis eures Feedbacks schon in das Regelbuch eingepflegt. Dabei handelt es sich jedoch nicht um Änderungen am Spiel, sondern lediglich um Klarstellungen von zweideutigen Textpassagen. Wie gesagt, ich ändere nichts am Gameplay, sondern lediglich an der Zugänglichkeit des Regelwerks. Ich werde in den nächsten Wochen ein Update des Regelbuches auf BGG, Kickstarter und meiner Website online stellen.
Wenn ihr Verbesserungsvorschläge und Ideen für das Gameplay habt, wäre ich auch daran sehr interessiert, da ich gerade sehr intensiv an der Erweiterung "The Inquisition" arbeite. Die Erweiterung soll sich nicht nur nahtlos in das Basisspiel einfügen, sondern im besten Fall das Spielerlebnis noch reichhaltiger und eleganter machen. Aktuell gestalte ich die Erweiterung des Spielbretts. Hier sind ein paar Eindrücke.
