dear board game friends, it has announced itself and now the time has come. I must bring you a message that I have always tried to avoid. After I had a very long Skype conversation with my producer Gameland from China today, we unfortunately have no other choice than to postpone the fulfillment. 

The reason for this is the corona virus and the associated mandatory vacation in many factories in China. Gameland is also affected. Production is expected to continue on February 17th. However, there is a risk that the mandatory vacation will be extended beyond this date. This is particularly annoying for Materia Prima, as 90 percent of the components have already been produced and only need to be packed.  But as long as the assembly lines remain idle, freight to the USA and Europe cannot start. Even if the reason for this delay is somehow due to higher power, I am extremely sorry that you now have to wait even longer for Materia Prima. I will keep you informed and hope that production will continue soon.

liebe Brettspielfreunde, es hat sich angekündigt und nun ist es soweit. Ich muss euch eine Nachricht überbringen, die ich stets versucht habe zu vermeiden. Nachdem ich heute ein sehr langes Skype-Gespräch mit meinem Produzenten Gameland aus China geführt habe, bleibt uns leider keine andere Wahl als das Fulfillment nach hinten zu verschieben. 

Der Grund dafür ist der Corona Virus und die damit verbundene Zwangsbeurlaubung in vielen Betrieben Chinas. Auch Gameland ist davon betroffen. Voraussichtlich kann die Produktion zwar am 17. Februar fortgesetzt werden. Jedoch besteht die Gefahr, dass der Zwangsurlaub über diesen Termin hinaus verlängert wird. Das ist für Materia Prima besonders ärgerlich, da 90 Prozent der Komponenten bereits produziert sind und nur noch verpackt werden müssen. Solange aber die Fließbänder still stehen, kann die Fracht in die USA und nach Europe nicht anlaufen. Auch wenn der Grund für diese Verzögerung irgendwie höherer Macht geschuldet ist, tut es mir ausgesprochen leid, dass ihr nun noch länger auf Materia Prima warten müsst. Ich halte euch auf dem laufenden und hoffe, dass die Produktion bald weiter geht.

Production is still running

I know that congratulations come too late, but of course I wish you all a great and successful year 2020. A few weeks have passed since the last update and production in china is still running. Actually it should be finished already, but we had some problems with the colors of the punchboards, so that the production had to pause for more than a week and afterwards some had to be reprinted. We also put the finishing touches to the plastic tray and optimized the compartments for the dice so that they can be taken out better. But what I can say is that all cubes, stands, cards, rulebooks and boxes are already printed and portioned. I've added a few pictures from the production so you can see for yourself how it's going.

Unfortunately all these optimizations mean that we can't ship the game until after the Chinese New Year, which starts in a week. This is exactly the one delay I wanted to avoid, because it means that my last time buffer is used up. The finished games are now expected to be sent on their journey to the USA and Europe in mid-February. Then they will be on their way to the fulfillment hubs for about 5-6 weeks and can be sent to you from there at the end of March. This is the current schedule and if all goes well, you will have Materia Prima on your tables by the end of March or early April. This means that I can no longer guarantee the delivery date in March as stated on Kickstarter. I hope you understand this delay. My first priority was the quality of the product and you deserve the best Materia Prima I can deliver.

ich weiß, dass die Glückwünsche zu spät kommen, dennoch wünsche ich euch natürlich allen ein großartiges und erfolgreiches Jahr 2020. Seit dem letzten Update sind wieder einige Wochen vergangen und die Produktion in China läuft immer noch. Eigentlich sollte sie schon abschlossen sein, jedoch hatten wir einige Probleme mit den Farben der Punchboards, so dass die Produktion über eine Woche pausieren musste und anschließend einige neu gedruckt werden mussten. Zudem haben wir letzte Hand an das Plastiktray gelegt und die Fächer für die Würfel optimiert, damit man sie besser heraus nehmen kann. Was ich aber sagen kann ist, dass sämtliche Würfel, Stands, Karten, Rulebooks und Schachteln bereits fertig gedruckt und partioniert sind. Ich habe ein paar Bilder aus der Produktion beigefügt, damit ihr euch selbst überzeugen könnt, wie es voran geht.

Leider führen diese ganzen Optimierungen dazu, dass wir das Spiel erst nach dem Chinesischen Neujahr verschiffen können, das in einer Woche bereits beginnt. Genau diese eine Verzögerung wollte ich eigentlich vermeiden, denn das bedeutet, dass mein letzter Zeitpuffer aufgebraucht ist. Voraussichtlich werden die fertigen Spiele nun Mitte Februar auf ihre Reise in die USA und nach Europa geschickt. Dann sind sie ungefähr 5-6 Wochen unterwegs zu den Fulfillmenthubs und können dann Ende März von dort an euch geschickt werden. Das ist der aktuelle Zeitplan und wenn alles glatt läuft, habt ihr ab Ende März oder Anfang April Materia Prima auf euren Spieltischen. Das bedeutet, dass ich das bei Kickstarter angegebene Lieferdatum im März nicht mehr garantieren kann. Ich hoffe, ihr habt Verständnis für diese Verzögerung. Mein oberstes Priorität hatte bei der Entscheidung die Qualität des Produktes und ihr verdient das beste Materia Prima, das ich abliefern kann.

Digital copy and bulk produktion

just before Christmas I have a little present for you, but more about that later. I've been pretty busy the last few weeks and have been working with Gameland on the fine-tuning of the individual game components. You can see the result on the pictures, because I received the master proof this week. Tomorrow the bulk production will start.  I'm very happy with the quality of the game components and I hope you like them too. 

Since many of you have asked me how to get the promo card package, I decided to include the promo cards as a small gift in the basegame of Materia Prima. This means that there will be three more unique equipment cards included. 

Last but not least, I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year. 2019 was a fantastic year with many great experiences. Let's see what 2020 will bring ;)

kurz vor Weihnachten habe ich noch ein kleines Geschenk für euch, doch mehr dazu später. Ich war in den letzten Wochen ziemlich beschäftigt und habe zusammen mit Gameland am Feinschliff der einzelnen Spielkomponenten gearbeitet. Das Resultat könnt ihr auf den Bildern sehen, denn ich habe diese Woche den Masterproof erhalten. Morgen wird die Bulk-Produktion starten. Ich bin sehr glücklich mit der Qualität der einzelnen Spielkomponenten und ich hoffe, ihr mögt sie auch. 

Da viele von euch mich gefragt habe, wie sie an das Promokartenpaket kommen können, habe ich mich entschlossen, die Promokarten als kleines Geschenk mit in das Basegame von Materia Prima zu legen. Das bedeuten, dass nochmal drei einzigartige Equipmentcards enthalten sein werden. 

Zu guter Letzt wünsche ich noch ein frohes Fest und einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr. 2019 war ein fantastisches Jahr mit vielen großartigen Erfahrungen. Mal sehen, was 2020 bringen wird ;)

NOTE Pledgemanager shuts down on November the 27th

Alka Ahai,

some of you still haven't completed the pledge manager (BackerKit) correctly. Please check your emails and spam folders. I have written to all of you in the last few days who are still missing information. If you don't close the pledge manager correctly, I can't send you a game.  

There are some who have completed the pledge manager but forgot to add the game to their shopping cart. Even then I can't send you a game because the shipping costs can't be calculated correctly.

The Pledgemanager closes on November 27th, 2019. After that you can't change your address anymore.

Please, please, please check if you have entered everything correctly.

einige von Euch haben immer noch nicht den Pledgemanager korrekt abgeschlossen. Bitte prüft eure E-Mails und Spamordner. Ich habe in den letzten Tagen alle angeschrieben, bei denen noch Informationen fehlen. Wenn ihr den Pledgemanager nicht korrekt abschließt, kann ich euch kein Spiel zuschicken. 

Es gibt auch welche, die den Pledgemanager abgeschlossen haben, jedoch vergessen haben, das Spiel in den Warenkorb zu legen. Auch dann kann ich euch kein Spiel zuschicken, da die Versandkosten nicht richtig abgerechnet werden können.

Der Pledgemanager schließt am 27. November 2019. Danach könnt ihr auch eure Adresse nicht mehr ändern.

Final Rulebook and Production Update

Alka Ahai,

the last update was a few weeks ago and it's time for me to give a sign of life again. A lot has happened. Some of you followed my invitation and met me at the game fair in Essen. I'm always thrilled when I get feedback from you. And I am now convinced that the supporters of Materia Prima are simply the nicest people in the world. I also had an appointment at the fair with Gameland, who produce the game. They also brought me some samples for the dice and stands. The production quality is very good. Here are also some impressions of the fair. 

Also, all print data has at last been finalized, which also means that the rule book is available in English and German in its definitive version. Here is a link to the rulebooks:

We are right on schedule with the production itself. The moulds for the dice and stands have already been manufactured. I expect the digital proof of the whole game this month and the mass production should be finished by the end of the year. Since the Chinese New Year festival does not start until 24 January, we also have a small buffer in case something goes wrong. I'll get back to you as soon as I have pictures of the digital proof for you.

das letzte Update liegt nun schon einige Wochen zurück und es wird Zeit, dass ich mal wieder ein Lebenszeichen von mir gebe. Es ist viel passiert. Ein paar von euch sind meiner Einladung gefolgt und haben sich mit mir auf der Spiel-Messe in Essen getroffen. Ich bin immer wieder begeistert, wenn ich von euch Feedback bekomme. Und ich bin mittlerweile Überzeugt, dass die Unterstützer von Materia Prima einfach die nettesten Menschen der Welt sind. Außerdem hatte ich auf der Messe einen Termin mit Gameland, die das Spiel produzieren. Die haben mir auch gleich ein paar Samples für die Würfel und Stands mitgebracht. Die Produktionsqualität ist sehr gut. Hier sind zudem noch ein paar Eindrücke von der Messe. 

Außerdem sind nun endlich alle Druckdaten finalisiert, was auch bedeutet, dass das Regelbuch in den Sprachen Englisch und Deutsch in seiner endgültigen Version vorliegt. Hier ist ein Link zu den Regelbüchern:

Bei der Produktion selbst liegen wir voll im Zeitplan. Die Gussformen für die Würfel und Stands sind bereits gefertigt. Den digitalen Proof des gesamten Spiels erwarte ich noch in diesem Monat und bis Ende das Jahres sollte die Massenproduktion abgeschlossen sein. Da das Chinesische Neujahrsfest erst am 24 Januar beginnt, haben wir auch noch einen kleinen Puffer, falls etwas schief gehen sollte. Ich melde mich bei euch wieder, wenn ich Bilder vom digitalen Proof für euch habe.
